• Spot early warning signs that your CFO is stuck in reactive mode
• Pinpoint the habits that signal readiness for strategic leadership under pressure
• Ensure your organisation is positioned to seize the upside in the next crisis

Last month on the blog, I wrote about what it really means to build an antifragile business.

Read "How to Make Your Business Antifragile"

In it, we explored the unique strength of the CEO-CFO-Board relationship and how, when aligned, your business is well equipped to not just survive market disruption, but to leverage volatility to generate new opportunities for growth.

Next, I introduced the Antifragile CFO Model™, showing how CFOs can practise antifragility across four distinct domains: Anticipation, Adaptability, Acceleration and Amplification.

This blog is part three in my series on Antifragility.

Now it's time to assess where your CFO sits on the antifragility scale.

The Antifragile CFO Scorecard is a simple, practical tool to help you assess how prepared your CFO is for the next market shock. It takes just a couple of minutes to complete and is available as a Google Sheet. There is no need to enter your details. Just click the button below, read the instructions and fill in the scorecard.

Whether you're a CEO evaluating your finance leader or a CFO doing a self-assessment, the scorecard will quickly reveal where your strengths lie and where there's room to grow.

At the end, you'll get a clear picture of whether your CFO is Reactive, Resilient, Responsive, or Antifragile, so you can make smarter decisions about how to build capability before the next business shake up. Because the best time to build antifragility isn't during the crisis. It's now.

How to interpret your results

Once you complete the scorecard, your CFO's result will fall into one of four categories:

🔴 Reactive 12-27

Your CFO is primarily focused on financial hygiene and risk mitigation. They may be a safe pair of hands, but they're not yet adding strategic firepower in volatile moments. The business is exposed to risk and it's important that you prepare.

🟠 Resilient 28-35

Your CFO can maintain the status quo during disruption. They keep the lights on and operations steady. But they're not yet capable of unlocking upside or repositioning the business to benefit from future chaos.

🟡 Responsive 36-47

Your CFO is showing signs of antifragile thinking. They adjust plans, challenge assumptions, and spot risks early. They might not be quite ready to use disruption as fuel for growth, they bring clarity and sound judgement when it counts. In a crisis, they'll hold steady, and with the right development, they'll be ready to do much more.

🟢 Antifragile 48-60

Your CFO is fully prepared to make the most . They proactively scan the horizon looking for emerging opportunities, they're ready to reallocate resources and streamline decision-making swiftly and they're well positioned to propel the business forward when called on to do so.
Whatever your result, the scorecard is a starting point. The real opportunity lies in what you do with that information.

If you're a CEO this scorecard will help you identify whether you're unlocking the full potential of your finance function.

If you're a CFO, it's a chance to step back, reflect, and plan your next leap.
